Jola Otten, a recent graduate of the Twinfield-Cabot cooperative, has been selected to play in the 51st Lions Cup All-Star Match later this month. Otten will represent Vermont against New Hampshire on July 18 at Hanover High School. The boys match begins at 1 p.m., followed by the girls match at 4 p.m.
Otten helped lead Caledonia United, the combined Twinfield-Cabot-Danville team, to an undefeated regular season at 16-0 and a trip to the Division IV state championship. Caledonia United fell 2-0 to Twin Valley, finishing as state runner-up. Otten scored 14 goals and earned First Team All-Mountain League honors. He was joined on the Vermont roster by 21 other seniors, including Caledonia United teammates Eli Russel and Sam McLane.
Other Vermont players selected include Randolph's Zane Cooper and George Rosalba, Mount Mansfield's Levi Causey and Otis Lee, Twin Valley's Tucker Magnant, Montpelier's Will Curtis, Burlington's Faraja Diedonre, Peoples Academy's Noah Brown, CVU's Sebastian Bronk, Will Wallace and Julian Olin, Harwood's Brycen Scharff and Emmanuel Mego-Vasquez, Mount Abraham's James Graziedei, South Burlington's Sebastian Bertmann, West Rutland's Brayden Schutt, Burr & Burton Academy's Bodie Smith, Eagan Murray and Ethan Pringle-Corcoran of Essex, Ryker Mosehauer of Vergennes, and Evan Bretton of Rice.
The Lions Cup has been played annually since 1975, organized by the Lions organizations of both states. Over 80 graduating seniors are selected each year by the coaches associations.
