Saturday's tractor pull at the Barton Fairgrounds came to a halt at 2 p.m. for a tribute to Harvey Cleveland, a longtime fixture of the event who died last year. The interruption was organized by Kim Brooks, Cleveland's life partner, and drew more than 100 antique tractor enthusiasts to the stage.

Cleveland, who presided over countless pulls over the years, would not have tolerated a stoppage under normal circumstances. His grandson, Rocky Vance, wore Cleveland's pulling hat and won the 3,000-pound class earlier in the afternoon. The Reverend John Klar, who knew Cleveland, also spoke.

The gathering included many of Cleveland's descendants and community members who remembered him fondly.
