A strong storm moved through the Northeast Kingdom on the evening of July 9, uprooting and snapping trees across East Burke. Downed trees blocked sections of VT-114 and the Burklyn mountain trail within the Kingdom Trails network, and knocked out power to homes and businesses in the area.

The storm marks the third consecutive year that damaging July storms have hit the region. No injuries were reported.
