A tree uprooted by the severe storm that swept through the Northeast Kingdom on the evening of Thursday, July 9, 2026, was left leaning over a roadside embankment in East Burke. The tree's entire root system was exposed after being pulled from the earth.
Crews worked in the following days to clear similar debris along VT-114, where many trees and limbs were downed by the powerful winds.
