Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Grafton and Sullivan Counties

The National Weather Service in Gray, Maine, has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for parts of central and northern New Hampshire until 5:30 p.m. on June 26.

The warning covers Sullivan County, south central Grafton County, and northwestern Merrimack County. At 4:37 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near Claremont, moving east at 30 mph.

Forecasters say the storm carries 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail, capable of damaging vehicles, roofs, siding, and trees. Radar indicated the storm.

Affected locations include Claremont, Henniker, New London, Grafton, Charlestown, Enfield, Bradford, Danbury, Newport, Warner, Grantham, Andover, Cornish, Lempster, Hill, Goshen, Croydon, Plainfield, Newbury, and Sutton. Interstate 89 between mile markers 20 and 46 is also in the path, as are Mount Kearsage and Mount Sunapee.

Police advise moving to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building until the storm passes.
