Ryegate residents have reaffirmed a town meeting vote to abolish the elected town auditor position. At a special meeting held May 18, voters cast paper ballots 59-45 to uphold the earlier decision, according to unapproved draft minutes from the gathering.
The move eliminates an office that had been responsible for auditing the town's financial records. No details were provided in the draft minutes about who will perform auditing duties going forward.
