The Jaquith Public Library in Marshfield will host its monthly Sunday Afternoon Poetry reading on June 21 from 2 to 4 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments, including Jasper Hill cheese, will be served.

Two local authors will read from their work. D. Slayton Avery has been published in numerous print and online journals. She won the 2024 Vermont Writers poetry prize and the 2025 Arthur Wallace Peach Award from the Poetry Society of Vermont. She founded VerseVillage to promote local poets in her hometown of Hardwick.

Cindy Ellen Hill has published four poetry collections. Her forthcoming novel in sonnet verse, “Leeds Point,” is set for release this summer. She has won the Vermont Writer’s Prize for both poetry and fiction and has received journalism awards from the New England Newspaper and Press Association.
