A pickup truck crashed into an apartment building on South Main Street in Hardwick early June 16, leaving the building structurally unsound and forcing the evacuation of four households, according to Hardwick Police Chief Michael Henry.

Henry said the driver told police he experienced a medical emergency before the crash. The driver was extracted from the wreck and taken to the hospital. Police have not determined an official cause and have not filed any charges. The driver's name has not been released.

No other injuries were reported. Photos from the scene show the front half of the pickup lodged into the bottom floor of the building. All four households are displaced and cannot return until repairs are completed, Henry said.
