A 25-year-old Pelham woman was killed and five members of a family were injured in a head-on collision Friday night on Route 3 in Columbia, state police said.

Troopers responded just after 9 p.m. to the crash scene. A preliminary investigation indicates a 2012 Chevrolet Camaro driven by Courtney Diamond crossed the centerline and struck a southbound 2021 Chevrolet Silverado head-on. Diamond died at the scene. The reason the Camaro crossed the line remains under investigation.

The Silverado carried a family of five: two adults and three children. Several passersby stopped to help. All five were taken to Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook, two with non-life-threatening injuries and three with life-threatening injuries. They were later transferred to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.

Route 3 was closed for about three and a half hours. Agencies assisting included Colebrook police and fire, New Hampshire Fish and Game, Pittsburg police, Stratford Fire Department, and 45th Parallel EMS.
