The Peacham Selectboard discussed a formal complaint about cemetery mowing on Memorial Day weekend during its June 17 meeting and agreed to speak with the mowing contractor.

A resident wrote that the cemetery was being mowed while visitors were present on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. Board members called the incident unacceptable. Separately, board member William Kempton said he believes the Peacham-Groton cemetery had not been mowed because it is Groton's turn to maintain the shared site and said he would contact that selectboard.

The board unanimously renewed the town's Local Emergency Management Plan, an annual update of emergency contact information filed with the state. Emergency Management representative Robert Starbuck said the next step is a Local Hazard Mitigation Plan, a five-year document requiring a committee. Starbuck said lessons from regional meetings include keeping the emergency management committee separate from the fire department and locating the command center away from the fire station. Kempton suggested the school as a possible location.

Planning Commission member Doug Morton reported that a recent legislative change extended the deadline for updating the municipal plan to the end of 2027, giving the commission more time. The commission plans to apply for a municipal planning grant this fall.

Road Foreman Jeremy Withers reported via email that shoulder work on Bayley-Hazen Road is done and crews are working on ditching and culvert replacements. Most roads are holding up despite rain. Town Clerk Rebecca Washington reported that the town office is being re-carpeted and staff are working remotely. Absentee ballots for the August primary will be available starting July 2.
