New Hampshire Fish and Game rescued a 69-year-old hiker from Ohio on Sunday after he suffered a serious head injury near the Eliza Brook Shelter in Lincoln, New Hampshire.
Crews responded to the shelter around 2:15 p.m. The man was on day five of a hike across New Hampshire on the Appalachian Trail, traveling with his brother.
Rescuers used ATVs and hiked in to reach the injured hiker, who was then transported to Littleton Regional Hospital for treatment. Fish and Game officials noted the pair were well prepared and had all required equipment.
