The National Weather Service in Gray, Maine, has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for Grafton County and much of New Hampshire, effective from 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, through 8 p.m. Friday, July 3.
According to the warning, dangerously hot conditions are expected with heat index values reaching up to 110 degrees. Overnight lows will only drop into the 70s, leading to accumulated heat stress.
Police advise drinking plenty of fluids, staying in air-conditioned spaces, and avoiding direct sun exposure. Residents are urged to check on relatives and neighbors, and never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles. Strenuous outdoor activities should be limited to early morning or evening hours.
The warning covers portions of southwest and western Maine, as well as central, northern, and southern New Hampshire.
