A Lawrence police officer was seriously injured after being dragged by a vehicle during a traffic stop on the evening of June 13.
Officers from the Early Nights Patrol Division stopped a vehicle near East Haverhill Street and Kendall Street around 7:40 p.m. They found that the driver's license was revoked and that the passenger was wanted on two active arrest warrants.
As officers took the driver into custody, the passenger slid into the driver's seat and tried to flee. An officer who tried to stop him became caught on the vehicle and was dragged roughly two blocks before he fell off.
The officer was taken to a Boston-area hospital for treatment. The investigation remains active. The suspect had not been apprehended as of the time of reporting.
