North Beach on Lake Willoughby in Westmore has been closed to swimming after recent testing found a high E. coli count, the town announced. The closure will remain in effect until further notice.
Police noted that runoff from recent rain can create conditions favorable for E. coli bacteria and harmful cyanobacteria, also known as blue-green algae.
