Northeast Kingdom Human Services is asking the community to help shape the search for its next executive director. The agency’s board has hired consultants Julie Tessler and Simone Rueschemeyer to lead the process.

Over the next two weeks, the consultants will hold a series of virtual focus groups to gather input on the qualifications and qualities residents want in the agency’s new leader. Topics expected to be addressed include reinstating the agency’s full designation, adapting to payment reform, and preparing for the long-term mental health effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A focus group open to the general public is scheduled for May 6 at 5:00 p.m. Those interested can obtain the meeting link by calling Colleen Bosse at 802-334-6744, extension 2376, or by visiting the NEKHS website. The board has also launched an online survey, which is available on the agency’s site.

Responses from the focus groups and survey will be used to create a candidate profile that will guide the job posting, description, and screening criteria. Residents who wish to participate further, such as in interviews with finalists, are encouraged to indicate their interest when attending the focus group or completing the survey.
