The Mobile Mug program at North Country Union High School has received the 2026 Vermont Council of Special Education Administrators (VCSEA) Golden Apple Award. The award recognizes programs that create inclusive opportunities for students with disabilities.

The program, which operates a mobile coffee cart, involves students with disabilities in daily operations. Cheryl Bugbee is the Mobile Mug coordinator, and Diane Tutko, assistant director of special education at NCUHS, has been a key supporter. Tutko is retiring this year. Lisa Moulton, who is moving to a new position, also received thanks for her support.

The award committee selected Mobile Mug unanimously from among programs across Vermont. The program relies on donations, sponsorships, and community partnerships.

NEK will be looking into the history and funding of the Mobile Mug program.
