The North Country Union High School board recognized Superintendent Elaine Collins at its June 18 meeting for being named Vermont’s 2026 Frederick H. Tuttle Superintendent of the Year.

School director and state Representative Richard Nelson read a resolution that he plans to present to the legislature during the 2027 session to formalize the recognition.

Before the meeting, the board, administrators, and local legislators toured the nearly 60-year-old high school, visiting 10 locations to discuss infrastructure and safety concerns.

A special committee of administrators and teachers also presented recommendations for implementing a device-free environment at the school, as required by a new state law. The committee consulted policies from other high schools as a guide.
