A Hyde Park woman faces DUI and gross negligence charges after crashing her pickup into a pharmacy building in Lyndonville on the evening of June 29.

Janet Mazzola, 71, was driving a 2020 Toyota Tacoma when it struck the building at 412 Broad St. at 7:30 p.m., according to Lyndonville police. Responding officers observed signs of alcohol impairment, police said.

Mazzola was taken to the Lyndonville Police Department for processing, then released to a sober party pending an arraignment scheduled for Aug. 31 at 8:30 a.m. in Caledonia Superior Court.

Along with the criminal charge of driving under the influence and grossly negligent operation, Mazzola received two civil violation complaints totaling $440 in waiver fines and four points on her license.

Lyndon Rescue, Lyndonville Fire, and Vermont State Police Trooper Kyle Gorman assisted at the scene. The truck was towed by Caledonia Wrecker Service of Danville.
