The Lyndon Historical Society has received a $600 Rapid Response Grant from Vermont Humanities to support a series of community programs at the Shores Memorial Museum and District 6 School House in Lyndon Center.
The grant will fund four public events tied to the upcoming 250th anniversary of the American Revolution and the founding of the Vermont Republic. The first event, an Ice Cream Social on July 26, will feature hand-cranked ice cream making demonstrations. On Aug. 15, the Society will host its inaugural Zucchini Festival, celebrating gardening and rural food culture. A Cider Day on Sept. 12 will include cider pressing and fresh cider doughnuts. The series concludes with a Pie Day Open House on Oct. 17.
As part of the grant, the Society has compiled information on Revolutionary War veterans buried in Lyndon Center Cemetery. Visitors can tour the cemetery and learn about early patriots.
“We are deeply grateful to Vermont Humanities for its support,” said grant coordinator Carolyn Guest. “These events are designed to celebrate the traditions that connect us and encourage residents of all ages and visitors alike to discover our rich history of the Lyndon community.”
All events are free and open to the public. Additional details will be announced as each event approaches.
