Lyndon Institute's quest for a Vermont Division II state baseball championship fell short on June 13, as the No. 2 Vikings lost 5-3 to top-seeded Mt. Abraham at Centennial Field in Burlington.
Senior starter Ray Powers took the mound for Lyndon. The Vikings got an early boost from Connor Wood, but a troublesome fourth inning allowed Mt. Abraham to seize control. The Eagles capitalized on Lyndon mistakes, scoring multiple runs to take a lead they would not relinquish.
Lyndon finishes as state runner-up, ending a strong postseason run. The Vikings entered the tournament as the second seed and advanced through the bracket before meeting Mt. Abraham in the final.
