An inmate at the Washington County Jail in Fort Edward, N.Y., was arrested on a felony charge after police said he possessed controlled substances inside the facility.

Justin J. Hurlburt, 22, of Fort Edward, was charged with Promoting Prison Contraband in the First Degree, a class D felony, according to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy.

An investigation determined that Hurlburt possessed the contraband at the jail on June 16, 2026, at approximately 10:30 a.m.

Hurlburt was arraigned and is currently lodged at the Washington County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Fort Edward Court at a later date.
