GLOVER, Residents gathered Saturday morning to discuss a long-awaited plan to renovate the town green, but the proposal has divided the community. The idea first surfaced in 2022, but some homeowners abutting the green say the town has not adequately considered their feedback.
The forum drew dozens of attendees. Designer Ceilidh Galloway-Kane of Ecotone Landscapes and Tree Care presented the plan, alongside planning commission co-chairs James Coe and Nella Cargioli. If no major changes or obstacles arise, construction could begin by late summer or early fall.
Opinion appeared split between residents wary of unnecessary changes and those eager to see new uses for the central village space. Several speakers questioned whether the town had conducted sufficient outreach before arriving at the current design.
NEK will be looking into whether the town has a formal public-input process for capital projects and what records exist of prior community surveys or meetings on the green plan.
