Hardwick Police, Fire and Rescue responded on June 15 at 7:28 a.m. to a report of a pickup truck crashing into an apartment building at 364 South Main Street.

First responders initially feared someone might be trapped, but determined that the four people inside the structure had exited without serious injury. The driver, identified as 68-year-old Dan Ayer of Berlin, remained in his Ford F150 Raptor until fire crews helped him out. He was taken to Copley Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Ayer told police he experienced a health-related crisis just before the crash.
