Green Mountain Books in Lyndonville is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The independent bookstore was founded in 1976 and occupies a building that originally housed a commercial auto repair shop. Remnants of that history remain visible: the glass panes of an old garage door can still be seen behind the bookshelves. The now-empty upper floor once served as a display room.
