The Hardwick Fire Auxiliary hosted a fire safety day on Saturday, July 18, outside the Hardwick Fire Station. The event featured the State of Vermont Fire Safety House, a trailer used to simulate a home fire, where children practiced climbing out an emergency window and using an escape ladder.

Firefighters Anderson Williams and Newt Brown helped a child down the ladder during the demonstration. The auxiliary offered food and drinks to visitors. The event ended a little early because of rain.

This was only the second time the Fire Safety House has been used to teach residents about home fire safety, according to the department.
