Two women have died from injuries sustained in a two-car crash at the intersection of Route 16 and Belfry Road in Hardwick on June 27, according to Hardwick Police. Elaine Badger of Wolcott and her passenger Betty Tulip of White River Junction were transported to Copley Hospital after their 2017 Kia Sportage was struck by a 2020 Ram 2500. Tulip died June 30 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center; Badger died July 9 at UVM Medical Center. The operator of the Ram, Erik Boelens, was uninjured. Police said Badger pulled out from Belfry Road into the path of Boelens' northbound truck.
On July 4, Hardwick Police stopped a vehicle on Route 16 in East Hardwick for a motor vehicle violation. The vehicle was towed.
