At approximately 10:12 AM, Newport Ambulance was dispatched to 2528 Dane Hill Road in Charleston for an 88-year-old female who had fallen and hit her head. First responders reported the woman was alert, conscious, and breathing.
Additional information released at 10:13 AM indicated she had a gash on her head. At 10:19 AM, an update from 911 noted severe tearing of the skin on her face. The patient has dementia and was reportedly fighting caregivers who were trying to prevent further self-injury.
At 10:27 AM, dispatchers received an update that the caller reported the woman was looking pale, and then the line disconnected with no answer on call-back. At 10:28 AM, police units arrived on scene and confirmed they were at the location. A Code 4 was declared, indicating the scene was secure. The extent of injuries and transport status are not yet known. This incident remains under investigation.
