At approximately 8:39 PM, Vermont State Police were alerted to an erratic driver in the West Union area of Barnet. A gray Kia Sorento with a Vermont license plate was reported traveling on U.S. Route 5 near Oxbow Drive, unable to maintain its lane, and nearly striking sidewalks and other vehicles. The vehicle was last seen heading toward Main Street. Officers are patrolling the area. At 8:44 PM, the vehicle was reported still heading south, then turned onto River Road and subsequently onto Waits River Road, continuing to swerve and nearly hitting pedestrians and sidewalks. Further information is expected.
