An Ohio man visiting the Northeast Kingdom is offering $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of two men who threw a heavy object through his RV windshield on Memorial Day, injuring him.
Around 9:45 a.m. on May 30, the victim was driving north on Route 100 about two miles south of Lowell when a red/orange pickup truck caught his attention. The passenger flagged him down, claiming something had fallen off his RV. Suspicious, the victim drove onto Route 58, but the truck followed and blocked the road. After a confrontation, the truck sped off, only to return and throw an object, believed to be a cement item, through the windshield. Glass fragments cut the victim's face and neck; he was treated at the scene.
Police described one suspect as having long hair in a ponytail, and the other as heavyset with a beard and a woodland camouflage shirt. The passenger had a distinctive limp. The older truck had a crack in its windshield and blue and red handicap tags. A tan and white Irish setter was inside. The suspects fled west on Route 58.
Vermont State Police issued a be-on-the-lookout but did not locate the truck. Anyone with information can contact the Derby barracks at 802-334-8881 or the victim at the email set up for the reward. The $1,000 reward is offered for information leading to identification and arrest; tipsters may remain anonymous.
