The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Summer Food Service Program is now operating in Vermont, providing free meals and snacks to children aged 18 and under through the summer months, according to a report from WPTZ NBC5.
Meals are available at schools, parks, and other neighborhood locations. Families can pick up meals on-site or take them to go, and some rural areas offer pickup or delivery options. The USDA data used to locate sites does not include delivery, so families are encouraged to contact their state agency directly for delivery information.
A Hearst Television data team has created an interactive map tool to help Vermont families find the nearest meal site, accessible through WPTZ's website. Additionally, the USDA National Hunger Hotline can be reached at 1-866-3-HUNGRY (1-866-348-6479), Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. EDT.
