Two young sisters from Danville, ages 2 and 8, died Saturday after a head-on crash on Vermont Route 14 in Woodbury. The girls were passengers in a southbound Toyota Corolla driven by Jonathan Ross of Danville, who police say failed to negotiate a curve near Hattie Bell Road around 9:30 a.m., crossed the center line, and struck a northbound Ford F250 driven by Harry Dailey of Woodbury.
Ross sustained serious injuries and was flown to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. Harry Dailey had minor injuries; his son Thomas Dailey, a passenger, suffered serious injuries. Both were transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington. Two DHART helicopters responded to the scene.
The girls were pronounced dead at the scene. One was in a car seat; the other was seatbelted, police said. The Corolla was demolished; the Ford had substantial front-end damage. Route 14 was closed for about five hours. Weather and road conditions were clear and dry.
Ross, who worked as a Family Services Worker with the Vermont Department of Children and Families as recently as 2025, was also a deacon serving multiple congregations. The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information can contact Trooper Alexis Marciniak at (802) 229-9191.
NEK will be looking into Ross's prior employment and any related oversight records.
