The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Grafton County, New Hampshire, effective until 10 p.m. EDT on June 6. At 9:14 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near Sandwich, moving east at 40 mph, according to law enforcement reports.
Hazards include 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail. The storm could cause hail damage to vehicles and wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Areas affected include Laconia, Conway, Fryeburg, Lincoln, Moultonborough, Meredith, Ossipee, Plymouth, Holderness, Ashland, Effingham, Wolfeboro, Tamworth, Sandwich, Woodstock, Gilford, Bristol, Bartlett, Madison, and Acton, as well as Lake Winnipesaukee, Squam Lake, Mount Chocorua, Mount Whiteface, and Mount Osceola. Interstate 93 between mile markers 71 and 91 and 93 and 101 is also impacted.
The NWS warns of a possible tornado and advises residents to move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy structure if a tornado is spotted.
