The National Weather Service in Gray, Maine, issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Coos County until 6:45 p.m. on July 14. The storm was located 7 miles east of Stratford, or 13 miles south of Colebrook, moving southeast at 45 mph.
Hazards include 60 mph wind gusts and nickel-size hail, according to radar data. Damage to roofs, siding, and trees is possible.
Areas impacted include Errol, Stratford, Columbia, Dummer, Stark, Northumberland, and Milan. The storm also affects the Kilkenny Ridge Trail, Pontook Reservoir, Percy Peaks, and South Pond Recreation Area.
Residents are advised to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building until the warning expires.
