At approximately 8:04 p.m. on Saturday, Newport Ambulance was dispatched to 138 Camp Elizabeth Way in Newport City for an unconscious 78-year-old female who was not breathing, with CPR already initiated by bystanders. According to first responders, the patient was found unresponsive and not breathing normally, prompting immediate life-saving measures. Units including Newport 12 arrived on scene to assist with the ongoing resuscitation. Additional details about the patient's condition and the circumstances leading to the cardiac arrest have not yet been released. This remains an active emergency response.
At approximately 8:20 p.m., the patient was transported to North Country Hospital under emergency conditions. Newport Police units accompanied the ambulance to ensure safe passage. Newport 12 confirmed arrival at the hospital at 8:27 p.m.
At approximately 8:44 p.m., Newport 12 reported that they were clear from the call at North Country Hospital, though the unit was not yet back in service.
