Vermont airports have received more than $9 million in federal aid through the CARES Act. The Northeast Kingdom International Airport in Newport is receiving $30,000, as is Caledonia County Airport in Lyndonville. Burlington International Airport received roughly $8.7 million.
The money is part of $10 billion Congress allocated for airports nationwide in response to the pandemic. Airports can use it for operating expenses, ongoing construction, and other needs. The aviation industry has seen an 80 percent drop in passenger traffic since the crisis began.
