Vermont State Colleges System (VSCS) Chancellor Jeb Spaulding has announced his resignation after more than five years leading the organization. He will formally submit his resignation to the Board of Trustees at a meeting scheduled for April 29.
“It is with a heavy heart, but firm resolve that I submit my resignation as Chancellor of this incredible organization that I have been so privileged to lead,” Spaulding said.
The Board of Trustees will meet via Zoom at 7 p.m. on April 29 to consider leadership succession. Plans call for appointing VSCS General Counsel Sophie Zdatny as interim chancellor for a short period until a longer-term interim can be identified. The public can view the meeting live at www.vsc.edu/live.
Spaulding’s resignation comes amid ongoing challenges for the state college system, which includes campuses in the Northeast Kingdom at Lyndonville and Newport.
NEK will be following the board’s decision on interim leadership and the search for a permanent successor.
