NEWPORT, NEK-TV Public Access Television has changed channel positions on Comcast cable. The local station moved from channels 15 and 17 to channels 1078 and 1088, respectively. The old channels are no longer in use.
Viewers should update their saved channels to avoid missing programming. The change is part of Comcast’s broader technological upgrades, according to NEK-TV Executive Director Tod Pronto.
“As Comcast expands their technological capabilities across the board, part of that requires that we move to the new 4 digit channel numbers on your cable guide,” Pronto said.
He noted that while NEK-TV is not yet broadcasting in high definition, the move is a step toward that eventual goal. In the coming days, the station’s individual programs will also appear in the cable guide, replacing the generic “Local Programming” label.
“We are excited about this move forward and will continue to strive to provide the best local content possible,” Pronto said.
