At 4:29 PM, Newport Fire and Ambulance were dispatched to a mental health crisis on the bike path near 102 Allendale Road in Newport. According to dispatch, police and a mental health team were already en route. Crews staged on the bike path and awaited further details. Shortly after, officers advised crews to proceed to the residence, indicating the scene was secure. The nature of the crisis and the condition of the individual involved are not yet known.
