Medical Emergency at Eye Care Clinic in Newport

At approximately 1:53 PM, Newport Ambulance was dispatched to 125 Main Street in Newport for a medical emergency. According to first responders, a 71-year-old male became unresponsive during an eye exam at the Wilderness Eye Care clinic, located in the basement of the building. Units were advised to enter from Coventry Street or Central Street. Newport-7 arrived on scene at 1:58 PM. At approximately 2:14 PM, Newport Ambulance reported that the patient refused transport and the scene was cleared. Units returned to service.
