Heavy Machinery Accident at Landfill in Coventry Leaves Man Unconscious

At 9:39 AM, Newport Ambulance was dispatched to 21 Lanceville Lane in Coventry for a male subject reported unconscious. Initial reports indicated that a piece of heavy machinery had flipped over on top of the victim. Responding units later confirmed that the subject was not entrapped. By 9:49 AM, Newport 7 and Car 11 were on scene, and dispatchers were checking the availability of the DART medical helicopter. At 9:53 AM, dispatchers confirmed that the DART helicopter was not available. By 9:58 AM, Newport 7 began transporting the patient to North Country Hospital. At approximately 10:09 AM, Newport 7 arrived at North Country Hospital. Additional units, including Support 7, also responded to the hospital. By 10:20 AM, units began clearing the scene and returning to service. Additional details about the man's condition and the cause of the accident are not yet available.
