The Hazen Union Drama Club performed the musical Mary Poppins on three evenings from June 4 to 6 at the Highland Center for the Arts in Greensboro.
Directed by Marc Considine with music direction by Mavis MacNeil, the production featured a cast of 34 student actors and actresses. Chloe Cloutier played the title role of Mary Poppins, while Ethan Gann portrayed Bert the chimney sweep. The performance followed the well-known story of the magical nanny who brings joy to the Banks family in London.
Other notable roles included Adele Barsalow as Jane Banks, Charlie Lander and Dylan Meacham as Michael Banks, and Garret Sisk as George Banks. Sadie Gann played Winifred Banks, and Juniper Book took on the roles of the Bird Woman and the nasty nanny. The ensemble included several additional students in chorus and dance numbers.
The musical featured songs such as "A Spoonful of Sugar," "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious," "Chim Chim Cheree," and "Let's Go Fly a Kite."
