ORLEANS COUNTY, The Orleans Southwest Supervisory Union has named Ted Barnett as its next director of finance, effective July 1.
Barnett most recently worked at the Joint Fiscal Office of the Vermont Legislature, where he forecasted the fiscal impacts of tax, housing, and economic development policy proposals. He also analyzed financial incentives for families of prekindergarten students and their childcare providers.
Prior to that, he served as chief financial officer at the Rutland County Parent Child Center, overseeing budget development and grants management during a period of post-pandemic transition and growth. The center provides childcare, case management, an alternative high school, and early intervention services.
Barnett also has experience in education, having directed an afterschool reading program for K-3 students in Florida.
He succeeds Annie Houston, who held the position for six years and has left to take a role at the Vermont Agency of Education.
