The town of Greensboro will hold its annual Funky 4th Celebration on July 4, starting with the Independence Day Parade at 10 a.m. The parade steps off from Country Club Road and proceeds down Breezy Avenue to the Greensboro Town Hall.
After the parade, a free community picnic with sandwiches, hot dogs, and ice cream will be held on the town hall green. Music will be provided by the Sky Blue Boys. A silent auction featuring home-baked desserts will also take place, with all proceeds supporting the local food pantry.
A dunk tank will be set up on the green during the afternoon, offering attendees a chance to dunk friends, local celebrities, and politicians. The Boston Red Sox's former pitcher Bill "Spaceman" Lee will provide special pitching lessons at the dunk tank.
Evening activities shift to the Highland Center for the Arts, with outdoor games beginning at 5:30 p.m. At 6:30 p.m., the Vermont Philharmonic Orchestra will perform a free 250th Anniversary Independence Day concert, open to the public. Picnic dinners can be purchased at the Highland Center that evening.
The Funky 4th Celebration is supported by the Town of Greensboro and the Greensboro Association.
