Reports of a plane crash in Westmore on Monday afternoon turned out to be unfounded, according to Orleans Ambulance Service.

In a Facebook post, the ambulance service confirmed that no plane crash occurred. The post thanked the numerous agencies that responded, including local emergency services, state agencies, and the Vermont Air National Guard, which deployed a Blackhawk helicopter.

“It has been confirmed that there was NO plane crash. We are thankful that it wasn’t an actual plane crash, but we remain prepared to respond to any incident and assist other agencies in any scenario,” the post stated. “We are also thankful to all who responded and assisted. We are all a part of a big community, and Orleans Ambulance is always going to help and be there for the people of Orleans County.”

The cause of the initial alarm has not yet been released. NEK News will follow up when more details become available.
