At approximately 12:02 PM, Lincoln Fire and emergency medical crews were dispatched to the New Wilson Lake Trailhead at Lafayette Campground in Lincoln for a report of a hiker who had fallen and struck his head. According to initial reports, the 20-year-old male was conscious and breathing, with controlled bleeding. He was located on the trail about halfway between the trailhead and a nearby hut.

At 12:12 PM, Lincoln Fire advised they would not be responding to the incident due to a broken ambulance. An alternative ambulance unit, Ambulance 3, was dispatched and made patient contact by 12:26 PM. Crews on scene were advised of a path around campsites that could allow a vehicle to drive closer to the trailhead. initial reports indicated some confusion about the exact location, with one responder stating they were already at the scene looking for the ambulance. The patient and his companions were instructed to continue moving toward the trailhead if possible.

The extent of his injuries is not yet known, and no further updates have been provided.
