A subcontractor working at a Casella Waste Systems landfill in Coventry died Thursday after the aerial lift he was operating tipped over, according to Vermont State Police.
Thomas Feerick, 58, of Fairfax, was found unconscious shortly before 9:40 a.m. and was taken to North Country Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Investigators said Feerick was not wearing a harness and the lift tipped over, throwing him from the platform.
The death is believed to be accidental and is not considered suspicious, police said. An autopsy has been ordered.
