DERBY, The Derby select board moved through a routine agenda Monday evening, fielding a paving question from a resident and approving the town's 2026 tax rate.
Bruce Muir asked board members why the paving on 4-H Road stopped 17 feet short of his property line. "In order to complete the front of my property, they're short 17 feet. Now I'm wondering, did they run out of tar?" Muir said.
Select board member Stephen Gendreau, speaking for road foreman Tom Pratt who was absent, explained the paving was intended only to reach a turnaround spot on the road. He said crews had enough material to go a little farther but that particular section was not scheduled to be paved.
The board also continued discussion about tennis courts behind the town office and approved the new tax rate for 2026. No further details on those items were available in the meeting summary.
