Vermont State Police arrested a Charleston man on July 26 following a reported incident in the parking lot of the Derby Wal-Mart.

Troopers responded around 6:30 p.m. to a report of suspicious activity. An investigation led to the arrest of Michael Smith, 64, who police say was exposing himself and committing a lewd act while seated in his vehicle.

Smith was taken into custody and transported to the Derby barracks for processing. He was later released on a citation to appear in Orleans Superior Court on July 27 at 12:30 p.m. to answer to a charge of lewd and lascivious conduct.

No further details were released. A mug shot was taken.
