A Massachusetts man was arrested on a DUI charge after Vermont State Police responded to a report from U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Interstate 91 Port of Entry in Derby Line on the afternoon of July 12.

According to police, CBP officers stopped a vehicle they suspected was being operated by a driver under the influence of alcohol. The driver, identified as Juan Pablo Molina Soto, 58, of Chicopee, MA, had turned his vehicle around after passing the last U.S. exit on Interstate 91 and was attempting to return southbound through the port of entry.

Trooper Aaron Leonard responded and observed indicators of impairment, police said. Molina Soto was arrested without incident and transported to the Derby barracks for processing. He was later released with a citation to appear in Orleans Criminal Court on July 28 at 8:00 AM for arraignment on a charge of first-offense DUI.
