Trooper Kelsey Dobson directed the Vermont State Police response around 11 p.m. Friday on South Bingham Street in Cornwall. Dispatchers received a call about loud activity at a private home near the town line. Officers arrived and located Gary Ryan Atwood, who was twenty-four and maintaining his primary residence in the area.

During the stop, police determined that Atwood was breaking two active terms set by his previous court order. They placed him under arrest for violation of conditions of release. The state troopers transported him to the New Haven barracks for standard processing. Residents pay local property taxes to support the barracks staff that handled his paperwork and secured his vehicle during booking.

Officers issued a citation directing Atwood to Addison County Superior Court. His first court appearance is scheduled for June 8 at the criminal division in Middlebury. A judge will review both charges when the docket opens. Court clerks note that the schedule may shift if prosecutors request additional time to prepare.

The arrest falls under case file 26B5002442, which remains open until Atwood appears before a magistrate. The department maintains two full-time shifts at the New Haven station to handle calls across rural routes in Addison County. Police will update the public record once the court issues a final ruling.
